Why Chalkman

Scoring darts should be the easy part. Here's what Chalkman does for you.

Free and simple

  • Free, with no catchEvery game, every stat and every practice drill is free. Ads pay for it, and they never show while you're scoring. Remove them with one payment, for good.
  • No account to makeOpen the app and throw. No sign-in, no email, no password to forget.
  • Works without signalGames, stats and practice all work offline, in the garage or the back room. Only showing a game live needs the internet.
  • Your game is never lostEvery visit is saved the moment it's entered. Take a call, change the music or close the app: your game is waiting when you come back.

Better darts

  • Chalky, a virtual player that plays like a personNine levels, from beginner to world class. It throws at a real board and misses like a real player: at level 3, about one dart in six at a double goes in; at level 9, about half. Play it at X01 or Cricket.
  • Scoring that keeps upType the visit's total or tap each dart. Bust is one tap, undo is one tap, and any visit can be put right. Checkout routes are there if you want them.
  • A caller who knows your nameTurn on the score caller and it calls every score, the game shot and what you need to finish, with everyone's name. Free, in your phone's own voice.
  • See yourself improveYour average month by month, the doubles you hit and miss, and drills that tell you what to work on next.

For the whole pub

  • Made for the whole tableUp to 8 players, pairs or threes, handicaps so everyone has a chance, and open games people can join between legs.
  • On the pub TV, freeShow on a TV puts the scoreboard on any TV or laptop with a browser. No cables, no casting, and no new code between games.
  • Run the pub's tournamentKnockouts, double elimination, leagues, groups and team nights for up to 128, all from one phone. With Chalkman Club, every board scores on its own phone and the night goes live.
  • Your games stay yoursYour games are kept on your phone, not on our servers, apart from what you choose to show live. Back them up or move them to a new phone whenever you like.

Score any game

A board that reads like the telly, whether it's two of you or a table of eight.

  • 501, Cricket and the rest. 101 to 1001 or any start score, with straight, double or master in and out. Cricket standard or cut-throat.
  • 1 to 8 players. Singles, or teams of two or three. First to a number of legs or sets, or best of.
  • Handicaps. Start the stronger player on 701 or the newcomer on 301, so every game is a game.
  • Open games. Leg after leg with no set length. Players join or step out between legs, and come back when they're ready.
  • Play on, or knock them out. Keep going for second and third, or play elimination, where the highest scores left go out after each leg.
  • Type the total or tap each dart. Undo in one tap, or tap a player to put right any visit in the leg.
  • Checkout routes when you want them. Switch them on, and the finish appears under the thrower's score.
  • A score caller. Every score, the game shot and "you require 40", with everyone's name, in your phone's own voice. Free.
  • Chalky, a virtual player to beat, at X01 or Cricket. Nine levels, from a 25 average to over 100. It throws at a real board, so it misses doubles like a real player at its level, and has good legs and bad ones.

Run the whole night

From the draw to the trophy, with every result in one place.

  • Knockouts, leagues and groups. A straight knockout with a plate and a match for third if you like, double elimination, a league played once or twice over as many nights as you like, or groups and then a knockout.
  • Team leagues. Pub teams meeting on nights: a card of singles and pairs games, each team putting up its players, and a table by nights or games won.
  • 2 to 128 entrants. Singles or pairs, with fixed pairs or a blind draw. Paste the names or import a list. A random or seeded draw, and byes sorted out for you.
  • A match length for every round. First to two in the early rounds and first to three in the final, if that's how you play it.
  • Up to 16 boards. Next up shows which matches can go on, and Chalkman estimates how long the night will take before you start.
  • Score it here, or just enter the result. Walkovers, withdrawals and postponed matches are covered, and league tables settle ties on leg difference and head-to-head.
  • A proper finish. The trophy for the champion, medals for the runner-up and semi-finalists, and the results as a picture to share.

A phone at every board

With Chalkman Club, the organiser runs every board from one phone.

  • Scan to join. Each board's phone scans a QR code off the organiser's phone. No accounts, no sign-up.
  • Matches go to the boards. As a board comes free, the next match is called to it. That board's phone scores it, and the result comes straight back.
  • Every board at a glance. The organiser sees each board's score as it's thrown, and whether each board's phone is online.
  • Nothing lost. Every visit is saved on the board's phone first. If a phone gives up, another takes over the board and carries on the match.
  • Only the organiser pays. Board phones and followers need nothing.

Follow every throw

Friends at home, or at the next table, see the night as it happens. Following is always free.

  • A code, a link or a picture. Share live sends a picture with a QR code. Follow in the Chalkman app, or right here in any browser.
  • Every visit as it lands. The score left and legs for every match that's on, and each visit flashes up beside the player who threw it: a ton, a bust or no score.
  • Tap a match to watch it. The scoreboard as the players see it, the leg chalked up visit by visit, and both players' numbers side by side: averages, 180s, 140s, tons and checkouts.
  • The whole night. Up next, the results, the bracket or tables, and the night's stats for everyone.
  • Any game on the pub TV. Not a tournament, just a game? Tap Show on a TV, open chalkman.co.uk/live on the TV and type the code. Every throw shows there, big, with everyone's numbers, and the next game follows on. Free.
  • The crowd Coming next React to every throw with a tap, 180! or Shot!, and see everyone else's float up over the match. Then chat with everyone following the night, with the organiser in charge of the conversation. And for darts on the telly, a watch party: share a code and chat along with your mates.

  • Form and records. A form guide over the last ten matches, wins in singles, pairs and bigger games, titles won, and head-to-heads.
  • Progress you can see. Your average month by month on a chart, and the best month you've had.

Practise at your level

  • Your level. From Beginner to World class, based on your recent average.
  • A ladder to climb. Beat Chalky three times in five at each level to move up.
  • Drills that find the gaps. Bob's 27 for doubles, 121 and Checkouts for finishing, and the Treble 20 challenge, with the one you need suggested.
  • Checkouts. Ten finishes from 2 to 170, a visit at each, with the route shown, so you learn the chart by throwing it.
